North Fork Wenas Creek, Wenas Wildlife Area
August 2024

Synopsis
Wenas in late summer is definitely a lot quieter than in May or even June. Not much was singing but for a few birds here and there. The bluebirds were gathering in large numbers and most of the summer migrants were busy feeding to stock up for their trip back south. Still we enjoyed the nighthawks that appeared in the evenings. Red Crossbills were still singing from the open treetops and Clark's Nutcrackers were very vocal. There were still birds in the area despite the late summer timing. It just took a lot of patience and luck to spot them. Still a wonderful area to enjoy and take in the scenery from Manastash Ridge.
