Spencer Island Park and Everett Sewage Lagoons, WA

Spencer Island Park and the adjacent Everett Sewage Lagoons offers a variety of habitats. The sewage lagoons are a hot bed for wintering ducks including Ruddy Duck, Canvasback, Ring-necked Duck, and American Wigeon. Surrounding marshes and tidal mudflats provide habitat for snipe, yellowlegs, dowitchers, Black-bellied Plover and other shorebirds, while birds of prey like the Northern Harrier, Northern Shrike, and Peregrine Falcon hunt the open fields. Brush along the Snohomish River waterfront provide hiding spots for Golden-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln Sparrow, and Fox Sparrow. In the summer, many swallows and neotropical migrants hunt for bugs along the marshy edges.
