Skagit and Samish Flats, Synopsis Fall and spring are exciting times on the Skagit and Samish Flats when migrants like unusual Red Knot, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Snow Bunting could show up. During the winter, fields are full of Snow Goose and Trumpeter and Tundra Swan. These open fields are also great for attracting hunting Short-eared Owls, Northern Harriers, Rough-legged Hawk, and Northern Shrikes. The occassional Snowy Owl, Northern Goshawk, Gryfalcon or Prairie Falcon may also be spotted with luck.
